Main purpose of the Job:
The Counter Terrorism & Extremism Network (CTEN) was established to coordinate the UK’s overseas counter terrorism (CT) work, aiming to reduce the likelihood and impact of future terrorist attacks. The network brings together multiple different government departments all playing their part in delivering the international side of the UK’s CT strategy CONTEST.
The North Africa CTEN covers 6 countries, from Egypt to Mauritania. The jobholder will sit within the CTEN Hub in Tunis and assist the CTEN Hub Head and Deputy Head’s efforts to coordinate CT activity across the region. The role of the Hub is to ensure those working on CT have the right information, personnel and funding to deliver the International CT strategy, and pull together as one team. The successful applicant will also undertake research to inform papers by the C4 North Africa Regional CT Officer on regional radicalisation and terrorism trends.
Given the Team’s regional remit, this role may require travel overseas, potentially at short notice.

Working hours and remuneration:
The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 3,822 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 4,731. This is for a full-time employment, on a fixed term basis for one-year, with a possibility of renewal.
Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Fridays.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 3 months probationary period. The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.
