Aktis is recruiting a Project Coordinator to help deliver our growing project portfolio of security sector reform, stabilisation and counter-extremism projects in Tunisia and Libya.
This role will likely focus on coordinating to the delivery of activities on the current UK-funded Integrated Strategic Planning project . This project combines a focus on generating and using the strategic capabilities of the Tunisian security and justice sector to serve the needs of the Tunisian people along with a focus on addressing key security threats (such as radicalisation, terrorism, and those emanating from borders) and key issues that undermine the trust of the public (such as human rights). This person will also support regional business development efforts and have time to focus on their own personal development.
This person will be part of Aktis’ North Africa regional team which has been operating out of Tunisia since late 2013. During this period, Aktis has built a team of 16 fulltime staff dedicated to project work focused on reforming the security sector and countering violent extremism in Tunisia and supporting conflict management efforts in Libya. The staff combine international and local experience and understanding: the majority are North African nationals.
The successful candidate will have 3+ years of post-qualification experience in the international development space, ideally with a focus on strategic planning, security sector reform, and prevent, counter violent extremism. A proven track record of successfully coordinating projects for international donors; and experience working in the Middle East and North Africa Region. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about taking on a challenging, fast-paced role in an expanding company with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and who is comfortable working in North Africa, Middle Eastern and European environments.
