Job Description

  • Reports to:    Senior Director of Programs
  • Salary:       1600 TND/month (gross)

Position Summary:

AMIDEAST is a private American nonprofit organization that provides testing and training services, as well as US Department of State-funded exchange program and educational advising opportunities. As such, AMIDEAST maintains multiple social media accounts for its programs in Tunisia and Libya, to engage the Tunisian and Libyan public and inform them of the many opportunities available. The Communications Assistant is responsible for supporting the Communications Officer in ensuring consistent and professional engagement with the public via traditional and virtual media platforms.  S/he will work closely with the Communications Officer to ensure that all AMIDEAST activities are promoted in a timely and effective manner. The position is full time and includes regular office hours to be determined.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

Traditional Media and Promotional Materials

  • Identify opportunities for AMIDEAST to sponsor projects and events that are likely to increase AMIDEAST’s visibility and are relevant to AMIDEAST’s mission, goals and values.
  • Collaborate with other departments (CSRs, Education, Testing etc.) to manage their announcements and postings;
  • Respond to emails requesting general information sent to both AMIDEAST Tunisia and Libya general email accounts.

Social Media Management

  • Support the Communications Officer in maintaining Facebook, Instagram and Google+ accounts for AMIDEAST Tunisia and Libya, ensuring accurate information and steady engagement.
  • Promptly provide personalized responses to comments and messages on AMIDEAST’s social media platforms to empower our target audience and expand the business. 
  • Support the Communications Officer in ensuring accurate, useful information on the AMIDEAST website including updating project and program pages in collaboration with relevant departments;
  • Attend special events to take photographs for promotional purposes.
  • Develop and maintain a database of photos and videos for promotional purposes

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in of use of Facebook and other social media platforms
  • Good knowledge of social media engagement tools and metrics
  • Good, writing, editing, presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented
  • Displays professionalism and maturity in communication style and decision-making
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in Arabic, French & English
    • A TOEIC exam will be administered to short-listed candidates, target score is 750
  • Strong organizational and coordination and office support skills

Enjoys working as part of a team, but also is highly productive working independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of online marketing and understanding of marketing channels
  • Knowledge of photo and/or video editing
  • Photography experience
