We are
The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 28 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to Libya represents the European Union (EU). It works closely with all EU member states represented in Libya.
The Delegation represents the EU as a whole, as part of the EU’s unified diplomatic corps – the European External Action Service.
The Delegation functions much like an embassy and represents the EU in its dealings on political issues, trade, development, cooperation, etc.
By engaging with political actors, the media, academics, business circles, civil society and citizens, the Delegation raises awareness of EU issues and concerns, and promote a stronger partnership between the EU and Libya.
Consular protection for EU citizens is mainly provided by individual EU country embassies and their consulates.
The 4 main tasks:
- represent EU interests
- promote cooperation with Libya
- support Libya’s stability and its democratic transition
- ensure EU cooperation benefits those most in need.
We offer
We offer a post of Accounts clerk in the Administration Section (based in Tunis) to support the activities of the Delegation. In this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Accounts clerk – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. In the context of this professional function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to the Administration Section, under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant head of section:
- Assisting in the preparation of budget estimates of the Delegation’s annual operating budget;
- Assisting in the follow-up, adjustment and verification of the execution of the authorized budget;
- Performing administrative, budgetary and accounting tasks;
- Recording all transactions in the accountant internal system;
- Preparing monthly closures of the Imprest Accounts;
- Reporting relevant accounting and financial matters to the Head of Administration;
- Other ad hoc tasks related with administrative issues.
The EU Delegation’s size is around 25 people (gender balanced team), partly based in Tripoli and in Tunis while the place of employment of the proposed position will be Tunis. The post is within Group 3 and the starting basic monthly salary is 2 011.000 TND.

Selection criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Medically fit to perform the required duties;
- Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law;
- Has a very good knowledge of French, a Secondary school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in Accounting/Finance;
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills; Good IT skills required.
The following will be considered an asset:
- Good knowledge of English and Arabic;
- Post-secondary school or diploma in Accounting/Finance;
- Working experience of at least one year with an International Organisation or a Diplomatic Mission;
- Ability to build positive and co-operative working relationships with staff, colleagues and management;
- Open, flexible personality; excellent ability to perform duties with accuracy within a given deadline;
- Willingness to share information and knowledge;
- A high degree of integrity and the ability to deal with confidential information.
