Job Description: Class teacher
- Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Primary Class teacher to help us preparing our pupils for their future using creative, forward thinking educational approaches, as well as develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of pupils, according to age, ability and aptitude.
- Department: Academic
- Reporting to: Head, Deputy Head
Main purpose of the job:
- ● Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with English National Curriculum objectives, using innovative practice based on current educational thinking and pedagogies.
- ● Facilitate learning by establishing a depth of understanding of the needs of our pupils, creating a positive and meaningful learning environment.
Duties and responsibilities:
- ● Plan and deliver engaging, enquiry-based lessons that integrate subject areas.
- ● Foster a love of learning through the use of varied and adapted teaching strategies appropriate to BIST context, promoting critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- ● Utilise outdoor learning opportunities to enhance learning experiences and encourage a connection and appreciation for nature. An interest in Forest and Beach Schools would be an advantage.
- ● Use 21st century teaching methods and strategies, including digital literacy integration, to support pupil learning, progress and achievement. An interest in AI would be an advantage.
- ● Motivate pupils and maintain discipline.
- ● Lead pupils in activities to promote their emotional and social development, grounded in a solid understanding of the importance of pupil wellbeing.
- ● Assess pupil progress, providing meaningful feedback to promote ongoing growth and development.
- ● Identify pupil’s individual learning needs, working closely with EAL, SEND and counselling teams to provide appropriate IEPs and support.
- ● Participate in staff meetings, professional development and school events.
- ● Be willing to take on a middle leadership role to lead one area of the curriculum.
- ● Be committed to parental engagement and community links.
- ● Be an ambassador for BIST.
Qualifications:
- ● Bachelor’s Degree in Education, PGCE or equivalent.
- ● QTS in the UK or equivalent teaching certification.
- ● A minimum of three years teaching experience with a cross-curricular approach.
- ● Experience of teaching in UK or at a British International School overseas.
- ● Thorough knowledge of 21st century teaching and digital literacy integration.
- ● A passion for outdoor learning and the ability to incorporate this into teaching.
- ● An interest in AI.
- ● An ability to integrate real-life learning links and problem-solving skills into the curriculum.
- ● Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- ● An enthusiastic person, a talented and inspiring individual.
- ● A motivated individual that likes to share their passion for teaching with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- ● The ability to work in a forward thinking, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
