  • Position title: Marine Program Manager, WWF Mediterranean Programme office
  • Directly and technically reports to:  North Africa Directorand MMI leader (dottedLine ), WWF Mediterranean Programme office
  • Location: WWF-North Africa, in Tunis
  • Contract period :   Two years  renewable

Major Function

The WWF Marine Program Manager leads and coordinates the development and management of WWF sub-regional marine program, including strategy implementation, staff supervision, project development, fundraising, etc.
The Marine Program Manageris WWF’s spoke person in the Tunisia on issues related to WWF marine strategy.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the development and implementation of WWF N.A. marine program in the context of the MMI, including strategy development, implementation and monitoring;
  • Ensure that activities and projects contribute to WWF MedPO/MMI strategy;
  • Act as the WWF spokesperson in N.A. in relation to marine related issues; with the agreement of the WWF North Africa Director
  • Research and identifies funding opportunities and priorities to develop WWF’s marine programme portfolio in N.A.;
  • Contribute to develop project concepts and proposals;
  • Monitor sub-regional policy processes and establishes, together with N.A. Director and the MMI leader any strategic directions or WWF engagement in such processes.
  • Build the relationship and dialogue with public authorities on marine related issues, sharing our vision and work, and strengthening strategic relationships as needed.
  • Build relations and partnerships with civil society and the public and private sector as necessary for the development and implementation of WWF marine strategy in N.A..
  • Lead and manage marine projects in N.A.
    • Supervise the implementation of all marine project in N.A and mainly Tunisia and Algeria., including the development of annual work-plans, staff supervision, partnership development, monitoring and reporting
    • Prepare the quarterly technical reports as well as monitor progress;
    • Support project’s teams and partners in implementing and delivering against their work-plans by:
      • providing direct technical support,
      • identifying the most suitable technical experts to assist them and organizing their missions in the pilot sites,
      • facilitating workshops/meetings,
      • providing access to specific technical/scientific knowledge,
      • reviewing T0Rs or other technical reports,
      • any other technical support that might be asked by the local coordinators;
    • Creates synergies among projects, disseminates results and lessons learned in collaboration with communication units;
    • In collaboration with the Administration units, monitors progress on budget allocation and spending;
    • Conducts missions in the project’s sites and/or other countries in accordance with the project’s needs with the coordination of the NA Director and the MMI leader.
    • Ensures that WWF standards, procedures and guidelines are respected and complied with.
  • Other duties
    • Work closely with WWF North Africa Director and the MMI leader in defining strategic directions, identifying opportunities and in scoping out donors and funding opportunities;
    • Scope opportunities for corporate fund raising in N.A. and mainly Tunisia and Algeriaand develops relations in close collaboration with WWF North Africa Director andthe MMI leader.
    • Contributed to WWF MedPO/MMI strategy development, implementation, monitoring and reporting.

 

 Critères d’éligibilité

  •  University degree, technical skills in marine conservation, natural sciences, management or other relevant field
  •  At least 7 years of professional experience in a project/programme management position, including at least 3 years as a senior leader with successful experience in team and budget management
  •  Proven experience in problem solving, coaching, engagement, policy development, negotiations with internal and external stakeholders, activation and updating of a strategic partnership
  •  Strategic thinking, good communicator and motivator
  •  Excellent negotiation and lobbying skills
  •  Experience in fundraising
  •  Proven experience and success in mobilizing and leading groups
  •  Proven experience in working with different cultures
  •  Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
  •  Excellent ability in English, French and Arabic are highly required
